Gala Uncorked, A Wine Tasting & Friendly Competition

Gala Uncorked is a wine tasting event (and a friendly competition) that benefits our local American Cancer Society. Presented by Friends of the American Cancer Society.

You'll find all the details about the event below. Just know that your social life really can save lives!

The Tasting & Competition
Participants get together in teams of up to four and select a wine they'd like to present. Choose your favorite wine! Three bottles of the same wine - your favorite winter red - are brought by your team. The wines are bagged, tagged and offered to the participants for tasting and scoring. At the end of the night, the scores are tallied and the team's wine with the highest score wins.

Timeline for the Event
6:00 pm Arrive and mingle.
6:30 pm The tasting and scoring begins!
7:30 pm Scoring is over and tallying begins.
8:00 pm Winner announced!

How It Works
> Register for the event by clicking the link below
> Your team (one to four participants) will bring three identical bottles of your favorite wine - Winter reds only please!!
> At the event, two of your bottles will be bagged and tagged for the tasting contest. The third bottle is put in the "pot".
> We'll taste and score the bagged wines. The wine that gets the most points is the winner!
> The team that brings the winning wine takes home the "pot"! - Yes, ALL the remaining bottles of wine!

2019 February Annual: A Celebration of Roy Thomas

Jackson hometown celebrity, Roy Thomas, will be returning for a celebration, Saturday February 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Thomas is the former Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics, and co-creator of some of comics’ greatest heroes, including Wolverine. He was raised in Jackson, attended St. Paul Lutheran School, Jackson High School, and Southeast Missouri State University.

This is the 4th annual mid-winter celebration of arts and culture featuring the historic landscape of Uptown Jackson. Historic Uptown Jackson will be decked out for the celebration with comicbook characters, promotional activities in the uptown shops, and a special exhibition at the Cape Girardeau County History Center.

Note: Roy Thomas requests that we make "comicbook" one word per a historic proclamation in honor of Stan Lee.
