Sisters Win Their Dream Bedroom

NEWS

A community contributed to make life a little easier for one Eldorado family, and give two little girls the bedroom of their dreams. Leading Edge Restoration, a West Frankfort company that deals with design and building restoration, hosted a contest on River Radio offering contestants a chance to win a free room makeover. The Winter’s family had just moved into their new home a few months ago, and they wanted to remodel, but mom, Theresa, works 84 hours a week to support the family after her husband was laid off from the coal mines. Winning the contest came as a blessing, and their two daughters, Peyton and Ally, reaped the benefits with a brand new bedroom, shrouded in purple paint and curtains, and a custom bunk bed fit for a pair of princesses. Businesses like Rent One and the Wright Do-it Center helped out with furniture and materials needed. Co-owner Eric Speakman finished the project in one week, saying that the girl’s smiles made it worthwhile, “If we can make them smile, which is what happened with Peyton and Ally, then it’s perfect.” It went so well that Speakmen is ready for another project, hoping to hold contests for more renovated rooms as much as financially possible.
