New Museum in Works for Scott City

NEWS

After an unfortunate fire destroyed the historical Illmo Head School House in 2008, Scott City is finally bouncing back by remodeling the old Bank of Missouri building, and turning it into a Scott City Historical Museum. Residents have joined forces to help bring this museum to life. Many artifacts were lost in the school house fire, but now 300 historical items have been donated for use in the new exhibits. There is also openings for the historical commission for anyone who wishes to join. One of the bigger undertakings the museum is setting up is the railroad room, where a miniature train set is being prepared. The grand opening is set for May 2. For more information, or to volunteer with the historical society, call Susan Perez at 334-7025 or visit the Scott City Historical Museum's Facebook page.
