The Google Startup competition was last weekend, and the winners were officially announced Monday. About fifty people gathered at Codefi in Cape Girardeau, splitting into groups and presenting a total of 14 new ideas to the judges panel. In third place was a pitch called Movers and Shakers, they presented a web community meant to connect women through online book clubs and forums. Second place went to Go! Run, an app designed as a social platform for runners who wish to connect with running partners and groups. The winner of the competition was Landing Zone Acquisition/Designation, or LZAD, a device that would use laser technology to provide clearly marked landing areas for emergency helicopters. The winners received packages that included membership to Codefi, and the chance to pitch their idea to the 1ST50K startup competition. Another Google Startup weekend is in the works for September for those who have a great idea.
