The Sleeping Beauty at The River Campus

Based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault, The Sleeping Beauty has been a classic for generations, and now it is returning to the stage in its original performance by the Russian National Ballet at the River Campus.

With music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikowski, and choreography of Marius Petipa, The Sleeping Beauty uses traditional mime, expressive pas d’action ,and spectacular divertissements to tell the story of Princess Aurora who is placed under a curse upon her birth by an evil fairy to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. Through the help of the Lilac Fairy the curse is changed so that the spinning wheel will only put her to sleep from which she can be woken by the kiss of a prince.

The ballet takes place April 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available at the box office, or by phone at (573) 651-2265, or online at Rivercampusevents.com.
