Chaffee Pool Celebrates 75 Years

NEWS

The Harmon Field Swimming Pool is looking good for being 75 years old after receiving a facelift during the offseason. To celebrate this special birthday the above-ground pool in Chaffee held a party with free swimming, BBQ, and live music. Opened in June of 1940 the swimming pool is an important piece of history for Chaffee, with many residents having used it since childhood. As a special treat entry to the pool will only cost 75 cents all summer long. After 75 years of business Jessica Swinford from the Parks and Recreation board says they’re just happy to see everyone having fun, “We all understand that we won't make much money this summer,” Swinford said. “And while it's always nice to be profitable, the park board is OK with it. Parks are for enjoyment moreso than income.”
