Cave Vineyard is nestled in the southeastern rolling hills of Ste. Genevieve County, Mo. It derives its name from the Saltpeter Cave located on the property. Fourteen acres of grapevines are cared for by the Strussion family, who has owned the property since 1995. Very little has been historically recorded about the cave. It is known that the name Saltpeter comes from the time of the early French settlers. It is believed that they mined the cave for saltpeter, which they used to make gunpowder.

The “Concert in a Cave” series began in 2008 and has grown in popularity every year. Folk musicians from Missouri, Illinois and Michigan have all performed at this unique event. This year’s lead sponsor is Ruopp & Ruopp Dentistry. The event is also being sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council.

Tickets are $40 and are available at the KRCU studios. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact KRCU at (888) 651-5070 or visit  HYPERLINK "http://krcu.org/" krcu.org. Proceeds from the concert will benefit KRCU.

As the area’s source for diverse musical programming and award winning NPR news, KRCU strives to continuously excel in providing the highest quality public radio programming to Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day from the campus of Southeast Missouri State University on 90.9 FM in Cape Girardeau and 88.9 FM in Farmington and Ste. Genevieve.
