Awards Show Will Honor Local Advertising Excellence

PRESS RELEASE

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals (AMP) will honor the region’s best advertising at the annual American Advertising Awards (the ADDYs) banquet on Feb. 19. Tickets for the presentation ceremony are on sale at www.tristateamp.com. The awards presentation will take place at the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau Event Center.

This year’s American Advertising Awards, sponsored by Tri-State AMP, will recognize and showcase the best advertising creative talent published or aired in the Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Paducah, Ky.; and Harrisburg, Ill., markets between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2015. The evening begins with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards presentation at 6:30 p.m.

One hundred and seventy-one broadcast, digital and print entries were submitted this year from agencies, businesses, individuals and students in the Tri-State area. A three-member judging panel consisting of out-of-market professionals evaluated all 57 student entries and 114 professional entries.

“The judges were really impressed with what the Cape area market had to offer,” says Tonya Wells, Tri-State AMP ADDY co-chairperson. “The group is very excited with a growth in entries and can’t wait to announce the winners on Feb. 19.”

Tri-State AMP will also announce the 2016 Silver Medal Award winner at the event. The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Past recipients include Johnathan Wright, Paul Walker, “Cousin Carl” Anderson, Mike Tenholder, Gary Rust, Charles and Judy Wiles, Jim Riley, Nancy Bray and more.

“Our region is very fortunate to have a talented group of professionals who have been trailblazers in advertising and marketing,” sayd ADDY co-chair Kristen Martin. “It’s wonderful to share their accomplishments at the same event where we celebrate creativity.”

Winners of the local ADDY Awards are eligible to compete in the second level of the three-tiered ADDY Awards competition, the District 9 AA Awards conducted in March. The District 9 winners are then eligible for the ultimate competition, the national AA Awards, presented in June every year by

the American Advertising Federation (AAF). As a three-tiered national competition with 40,000 entrants overall, the national ADDY Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizing creative excellence and the very best advertising worldwide.

Tickets for this gala event are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Corporate sponsor tables of eight are also available for $400. Corporate tickets feature prime reserved seating, recognition in the program and free cocktail drink vouchers for each attendee. Tickets may be purchased at www.tristateamp.com.
