River Radio Celebrates St. Jude Week

PRESS RELEASE

River Radio invites you to join in for St. Jude week which kicks off Monday, Feb. 29 and runs through Friday, March 4. This event is a celebration of the St. Jude children who are battling cancer on a daily basis. Mike Renick, Operations Manager of the River Radio-Cape cluster says that the thing most people don’t realize about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is their “…ability to impact people even though they are not directly a patient.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital not only helps treat children, but they are also constantly researching to find new cures of childhood cancer and diseases. Because of treatments invented at St. Jude, the overall childhood cancer survival rate has climbed from 20 to 80 percent since it opened 50 years ago.

River Radio hosts their annual Radiothon March 3 and 4 this year. Phone lines are open for pledges 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during those days. Businesses are encouraged to participate all week long and can make donations at any time leading up to the close of the Patrick Furniture Country Cares Radiothon on March 4. Pledges are also accepted throughout the entire week online at k103fm.com. Over $550 million in pledges has been raised for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With nearly 200 participating stations since the Country Cares for St. Jude Radiothon began in 1989, it is one of the most successful radio fundraising events in America. The River Radio stations are comprised of 93.9 The River, Today’s Best Country K103, Real Rock 99.3, SEMO ESPN 92.9 FM/1470 AM and 1220 AM, 960 KZIM and 1400 KSIM.
