United Way Opens Application for Funding

PRESS RELEASE

United Way of Southeast Missouri announces the official opening of the application process for agencies and programs in the Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Scott City, Marble Hill, and Perryville areas seeking United Way funding. Applications are accepted until May 13 at 4 p.m. (CST) from all organizations that meet eligibility criteria.

Those seeking and receiving funding must participate in a rigorous vetting process spearheaded by a panel of community volunteers, United Way staff and board members. Completing the Request for Proposal (RFP) is the first step for any entity seeking a three-year funding commitment from United Way. All applications must be submitted online via https://uwsemo.communityforce.com. United Way of Southeast Missouri (UWSEMO) currently invests in more than thirty partner agencies and programs that support the areas determined by United Way Worldwide to have the greatest impact in quality living: education, income and health. Funding is focused on initiatives that help United Way strengthen the entire community based on needs identified by area resource agencies and the public in recent Community Conversations. By partnering with multiple agencies, UWSEMO is able to have greater impact in helping reach the long-term goals of the communities it serves. Specific focus areas and targeted strategies have been developed and should be considered by agencies prior to completing the RFP. These are identified in greater detail in the application and include goals such as a broader commitment to education through post-secondary training and helping to meet the need for affordable, accessible mental health care. RFP instructional meetings are underway with the last one scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at United Way, 430A Broadway. Although instructional meetings are free, participants must register. Registration information, additional RFP instructions, and more information about serving on the Community Investment Committee to review RFPs can be found at www.unitedwayofsemo.org/rfp or by calling the United Way office at 573-334-9634.
