River Tales Classic Car Show - 2016

The River City Rodders and Old Town Cape, Inc. will host the 39th Annual River Tales Classic Car Show in downtown Cape Girardeau Sunday, September 18, 2016 with a special Cape Cruise In welcome event on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The Cape Cruise In is a free event from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 at Capaha Park. There will be complimentary barbecue, chips, and beverages provided in addition to oldies tunes and door prizes.

Attendees are invited to explore the unique downtown shopping, dining and entertainment options available before and following the event. The River Tales Classic Car Show begins the morning of Sunday, September 18. Vehicle registration runs 8 a.m. to noon in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Three trophies for each of the following classes will be awarded: Original Cars, Modified Vehicles, Original Camaros & Firebirds, Modified Camaros & Firebirds, Original Mustangs & Cougars, Modified Mustangs & Cougars, Original Mopars, Street Rods, Rat Rods, Street Machines, Original Corvettes, Original Trucks, Modified Trucks, Projects, Special Interest, Ford Cars & Trucks, GM Cars & Trucks, and Mopar Cars & Trucks. Some classes will be divided into subcategories based upon year. A Display-Only category is also available for those looking to display a vehicle of any year or model. No trophies will be awarded for the Display-Only category, but entries in this category are eligible for door prizes.

Proceeds from each $15.00 vehicle entry will be donated to support Toy Box, Women’s Safe House and other charitable organizations. The 39th Annual River Tales Classic Car Show includes a free spectator show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2016. Judging will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with an awards ceremony beginning at 3 p.m. Major sponsors of the 39th Annual River Tales Classic Car Show are NAPA Auto Parts, EVtw This year’s major sponsors for the event are Napa Auto Tire and Parts, EVtv Motor Works and Isle Casino Cape Girardeau.

In addition to the River Tales Classic Car Show, Grass Roots BMW will also host a Vintage and Unique Bike Show charity event and Open Swap Meet on the same Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 28 S. Spanish and 35 S. Spanish St. in downtown Cape Girardeau. Festivities start at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Awards will be given out for the following classes: Best in Show, Best Stock Bike, Best Dirt Bike, Oldest Bike, Best Sidecar/Trike and Best Café/Bobber/Custom. All bikes are welcome.
