Cape Asks Residents to Adopt a Street

NEWS

The Adopt-a-Street program is seeking businesses and organizations to partner up in the keep Cape beautiful initiative. Those interested in adopting a street can select a portion of a nearby road that is currently under maintenance by the City of Cape Girardeau (for example, Kingshighway and part of William are not options as they are maintained by MODOT). Volunteers are asked to clean their selection once a month. Trash bags will be provided for your group, and the city will collect the trash.

When a group has successfully cleaned a road for three months a sign will be added to the street with the name of the organization or business.

Interested parties need to contact Solid Waste Superintendent Mike Tripp at 573-339-6351 to register for your selection and pick dates for cleaning.
