Earthquake Drill this Thursday

NEWS

The Central U.S. ShakeOut is hosting an opportunity for interested parties to participate in an earthquake drill this Thursday. Participants can register online and learn how to protect themselves during an earthquake. ShakeOut uses the ‘Drop, Cover, Hold on’ method in which people should drop to their hands and knees, cover their head and neck while taking cover under a table or desk, and holding on until the shaking stops. Many regions in Missouri are in the New Madrid Seismic Zone which can cause an earthquake at any time. Officials say it is important to know how to protect yourself in case of such an event.

The drill will take place October 20 at 10:20 a.m. Those interested can sign up at shakeout.org/centralus. Once registered you will receive updates on the drill, as well as safety information.
