Rhodes 101 Stops Convenience Stores Attempts to Set a New
Guinness World Record for Largest Fountain Drink Cup

Rhodes 101 Stops convenience stores, a 30-location leader in the convenience store industry, will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for Largest fountain drink cup on Sunday, August 20, which is National Lemonade Day.  The attempt will be made at the Cape Girardeau Mercato di Rodi located at 425 South Mount Auburn Rd.  Beginning at 1pm, an official Guinness World Record judge from New York will evaluate a giant Rhodes fountain drink cup filled with lemonade to determine if it breaks the current record of 3,246 US gallons.  Requirements that must be satisfied include:

  • A licensed surveyor must be present to verify the giant cup’s size and volume.
  • A county health inspector must be present to verify the giant cup and its lemonade contents are safe for human consumption.
  • The lemonade must contain traditional ingredients and mixed in correct proportions.
  • The lemonade in the cup must be dispensed and consumed by humans.

The public is invited to bring large capacity containers approved for storing beverages.  Rhodes will fill these containers with free lemonade for anyone to take home.

In addition to the Guinness World Record evaluation, free Imo’s Pizza, free hot dogs and free lemonade will be available from 1pm-3pm.  Music and entertainment will also be provided.  The entire event has been organized to thank Rhodes’ loyal customers who purchased fountain drinks all Summer long.  Every fountain drink purchased between May 26 and July 31 added one ounce to the giant cup’s size.  There will be no admission fee to attend.
