12th Annual Visual Arts Cooperative Exhibit

PRESS RELEASE

12th Annual Visual Arts Cooperative Exhibit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO — Friday, Apr.4 from 5 to 9 p.m., the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will be hosting a reception for the 12th Annual Visual Arts Cooperative's three-gallery show. Their exhibit will be on display through April 26 in the Jean Chapman, the Lorimier Gallery, and Gallery 100 at the Arts Council. Light refreshments will be provided at the reception.

The Visual Arts Cooperative strives to present a quality exhibit of a wide range of traditional, contemporary, and experimental works including a variety of painting media plus sculpture, fiber arts, assemblage, graphic and digital art, and photography. The annual exhibit is a chance to showcase the talents of the Visual Arts Cooperative in full, displaying multiple pieces from each of the 50 members. CO-OP window exhibitors for the month of April are Vicki Outman, Mary Ann Hartman, and Marilyn Schwaninger.

Dr. Jean Chapman founded the Visual Arts Cooperative in 2002, in conjunction with the Arts Council's move to its current location at 32 N. Main Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau. The organization offers the opportunity for regional artists to show and sell their artwork on a continuing basis. To quote Dr. Chapman, “Our goal is to show art of the highest quality produced locally.” This exhibit marks the 12th year the organization has been displaying their full show, working tirelessly to promote First Friday with the Arts events.

While April’s exhibit will display artwork from the Visual Arts Cooperative in all three galleries, the Jean Chapman gallery provides a permanent display space for CO-OP artists with exhibitions change monthly. The CO-OP also exhibits affordable fine art in miniature in their permanent “MINI CASE” at the Arts Council.

Come join other arts patrons and supporters in congratulating the Visual Arts Cooperative on the commencement of their 12th year on Friday, Apr.4 at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, located at 32 North Main Street in Cape Girardeau, MO. The gallery is also open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
