PRESS RELEASE

WSIU Announces Powered by Two! Twosday on June 24

Public Media Stations Aim to Double Down on Donors in One-Day On-Air Event

Carbondale, Ill. -- Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Lucy and Ethel. Simon and Garfunkel. Bert and Ernie. Some of history's most memorable moments were powered by two. WSIU Public Broadcasting invites listeners and viewers to make history on “Twosday”, June 24 by creating their own Power Duo during WSIU's first-ever, one-day-only Powered by Two! on-air campaign.

Current WSIU members are asked to invite a co-worker, family member, friend, or neighbor who depends on WSIU to make a first-time donation and join the stations on or before June 24 at 800-745-9748 or wsiu.org. The goal is to double the WSIU donor roll from 3,000 to 6,000 members during the drive. When a new member joins, and mentions their referring WSIU member, both will receive an exclusive Powered by Two! coffee mug or t-shirt as a thank you gift.

“To build an even stronger WSIU, we're looking to build a broader foundation of support”, says Greg Petrowich, Executive Director of WSIU Public Broadcasting. “Who better than our current 3,000 donors to help identify the next 3,000 donors?”

“When we share the excitement and the investment, everybody wins,” says Laura Cobin, WSIU's Donor Communications Coordinator. “Every gift, in any amount, makes a difference! Together, they add up to make outstanding programs that teach, entertain, and inform available to all."

Participants are also invited to take a “Powered by Twofie” photo (instead of a “selfie”) while holding a “Powered by Two” sign and posting the photo on WSIU's Facebook pages at facebook.com/wsiuradio and facebook.com/wsiutv, and also on their own Facebook pages. Downloadable sign templates are available on WSIU's Powered by Two! Twosday web page at wsiu.org.
