National Night Out in Cape Girardeau, Aug. 5

On Tuesday August 5, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, The Cape Girardeau Police Department along with other local law enforcement and Target are encouraging residents to get to know your neighbors and your local law enforcement officers.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors even better.

There will be police officers and different patrol vehicles on sight to see some of the equipment that officers work with. The Cape Girardeau Police Department will also provide FREE Child ID Kits to the first 500 kids. Free Target Activity bags will be given away to the first 100 kids. A drawing will also be held for a $50 Target and $50 Mobile gift card as well as other gift cards be given away throughout the evening.
