‘Using Sporting Events to Promote the Community’ Topic of Southeast Distinguished Lecturer Series

“Using Sporting Events to Promote the Community” will be presented by Ken Antee of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission and the Independence Bowl Committee Oct. 28 at Southeast Missouri State University.

Antee will be the featured speaker at the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation’s 19th installment of their Distinguished Lecturer Series. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Crisp Hall Room 125. There is no charge for admission.

The lecture is sponsored by Cyclewerx, the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation, and the College of Health and Human Services.

Ken Antee

Ken Antee has practiced law in Shreveport, Louisiana, for 25 years and is a partner of Wilhite Solar Solutions, LLC, currently serving as its president. Antee served as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, for Mayor Keith Hightower from 1998-2006.

His duties as CAO included being the project manager for the $35 million expansion and renovations to Independence Stadium and the construction of a $150 million convention center and Hilton hotel. In 2013, Antee was the president of Eastridge Country Club, which acquired the area’s largest tennis-only club.

Antee has served on the Independence Bowl executive committee for several terms and served as the foundation’s president in 1996 and chairman in 1997. The 1997 Independence Bowl game featured perennial college football powers LSU and Notre Dame. He currently serves as the Independence Bowl chairman of the National Strategies committee.

In 1998, Antee worked to promote a scrimmage between the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.

After Hurricane Katrina, he worked with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association to bring the five high school state championship football games and the Saints vs. Cowboys preseason game to Independence stadium.

Currently, Antee is Caddo Parish’s appointee to the Shreveport Bossier Sports Commission.

As a football official, Antee has officiated for the Shreveport High School Association for 25 years. In 2000, Antee was selected to officiate in Division 1 College football for Conference USA (C-USA). As a member of C-USA, Antee has officiated over 150 college games and has officiated eight bowl games including the BBVA Compass Bowl in 2013, Las Vegas Bowl in 2012, the Outback Bowl in 2011, and others in Charlotte, Toronto, San Francisco and Boise. He has also officiated the C-USA Championship games in 2008 and 2009. Antee worked 11 years as Line Judge and in 2011 was selected as a crew chief-referee.

Antee is married to Kathryn Antee and has three daughters, Monica, Dianna and Kendall, and one stepson, John Toler.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 from Northeast Louisiana University and his juris doctorate in 1988 from the Mississippi College School of Law.
