River City Players Present: Dracula

NEWS

River City Players DraculaNot quite over Halloween? Close off the season with “Dracula” the live play performing this weekend in Downtown Cape. The River City Players of Cape Girardeau are a volunteer-oriented, nonprofit organization made up of community members who are simply looking to have some fun and put on a show. Some of their past performances have included “A Bench in the Sun”, and “Quiet on Set”. This year they are closing off the 2014 season with a performance of the play “Dracula”.

Rehearsal has been going on since September, and now the performers will be showing off their talents this weekend at the Yacht Club in Port Cape. The entire room has been decked out to set the scene to create an immersive performance. Guests can enjoy their dinner while watching the show.

Written by Crane Johnson, the play has been adapted for time and story, so while it’s the traditional Dracula by Brom Stoker, the playwright is giving the old story some new takes.

The River City Players come from all walks of life: pharmacists, cooks, legal assistants, and even high school students make up the diverse club.

Chrissie Lynn Shay, a stylist, and the actor for the role of Renfield says she, “Couldn't be more thrilled about it. We've all worked really hard and I just know it’s gonna pay off.”

To make a reservation call Port Cape, 573-334-0954. Cover charge is required.
