A Thousand Handmade Hats Donated to Schools

NEWS

In the Capetown Assisted and Independent Living Centers things have been pretty busy the last nine months. The residents have been working since April making 1200 handmade hats to donate to local schools. Using yarn donated from an unnamed local, the residents used the loom in the Center to create the colorful sock hats. In the past they have donated to Wounded Warriors, and Mizzou college students; this year they are making sure  school child stays warm this winter. The kids expressed excitement, happy to have a unique hat that doesn’t come from any store. Megan Steimlee, one of the coordinators, said that gift-giving is important, as well as keeping your ears warm.
