Jackson Joins the Main Street

NEWS

Back in November Jackson, MO applied to join an American tradition. Two months later that application has been accepted and Jackson is now a member of the The Missouri Main Street Connection which is already providing a grant to the Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization which will give funding toward training, mentoring, and technical support for the continuing revitalization of Jackson. For the next two years the Main Street Connection will give support and direction that will strengthen the community, this includes attendance at workshops and conferences, as well as help in preserving historic locations, creating small businesses, and raising employment rates. Bob Schooley, vice president of the UJRO expressed the excitement officials felt for the impact this will have on Jackson’s future, “Our citizens and people from outside our city can make a destination of coming to uptown Jackson for retail possibilities, restaurants possibilities, services possibilities,” said Schooley. “The whole idea is to get people to come uptown and to make them enjoy it so much that they stay uptown.”
