West Frankfort Man Gets Golden Ticket

NEWS

After falling short of the competition in 2012, West Frankfort resident Dustin Keele has once again taken the stage on American Idol, and has received a golden ticket to Hollywood. During the Nashville auditions in July Keele performed in front of judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr. and Adam Lambert, choosing songs "At This Moment" by Billy Vera and "Classic" by MKTO to show off the versatility and range of his voice. A singer since the age of four, Keele works nonstop to perfect his skill, including the use of a voice coach, whom he visited every two weeks in Nashville. While Keele hopes to make it further in the competition this year, he sees rejection as a way of learning, “I definitely always wanted to advance, but in a long-term view of my career as an artist I am just looking for growth and progression. So I take it all as a win.” Hollywood week of American Idol’s 14th season will air in February.
