Roundabout in the Works for Jackson Intersection

The intersection in uptown Jackson sees a lot of traffic, the little four-way stop can be slow-moving in the heaviest of times. To improve traffic flow The Missouri Department of Transportation has laid out plans for a possible roundabout to be installed at U.S. 61 and East Main Street. A traffic signal is also an option, but officials are leaning towards the roundabout because it will better serve decreasing traffic delays, and be cheaper for taxpayers. Construction will require moving utilities and reorganizing some parking lots, but representatives believe it will be worth it in the long run. Officials hope to start construction by July, and have it completed by the end of the season.
