New Park for Service Dogs

Architecture students at Southern Illinois University are donating their skills for a cause. Architecture group ‘Freedom by Design’ will be going to Ava, IL to build a 150 by 100 square foot dog park, specifically for service dogs and their owners. Ava is home to SIT Service Dogs, a company that trains and distributes service dogs to disabled individuals. Freedom by Design has partnered with them, volunteering the design and build the park for free, they plan on using recycled materials to help with cost. The dog park will have padded walkways, and handicap-accessible ramps, allowing freedom for both the dogs and their owners. The students hope it will be a place of comfort and fun for those visiting with SIT. Construction begins as soon as warm weather arrives.
