Teens Meet K-9 Officer

Herrin youth group Teens Making a Difference had a visit from a special guest last Wednesday, Figo, the Energy Police Department's K9 dog, stopped by to show off his skills, and also spread some love. T.M.A.D. director Emily Cole said that sometimes police get a bad wrap, and she wanted the kids to connect with the officers on a friendly level. Figo helped bridge that gap, walking around for pets, hugs, and pictures. His handler helped demonstrate Figo’s skills, from sitting on command, to searching a couch for drugs. Cole wants to host more interactive events like this in the future to educate and enlighten the teens.
