The King’s Ball Brings History to Life

Every year Sainte Genevieve hosts one of the most unique parties in the region. The King’s Ball is a French-Colonial inspired event where patrons dress in period costumes and perform dances that haven’t been seen for two centuries. The ball was welcome to all ages, including small children and high school students. Many traditions reflect ceremonies that still take place in modern Mardi Gras, including the king cake. A baby charm was hidden inside the dessert, and served to the party goers. The charm was found by Sean McCann. As reward for finding the charm McCann was crowned King, and chose Kaitlyn Abt as his queen. Ste. Genevieve stays close to its historic roots with this stylized celebration.
