SIC Receives Fire Truck

NEWS

Southeastern Illinois College received a 1970 American LaFrance fire truck as a special donation from the city of Harrisburg, now they just need a Dalmatian to match! After retiring the truck the city tried to auction it off, but after receiving no bids an unanimous vote agreed to donate it to SIC, where the fire truck will be put to good use in the Fire Science Training Program, which trains firefighters in the region. Harrisburg officials considered the donation a ‘thank  you’ to the college, and hopes it will continue to build the city’s relationship with the school. SIC expressed their gratitude, and said that the firetruck will be used in special events, as well as teaching students about diesel technology.
