Catapult Launches with a Successful Opening

Visitors signed their names on the window.Patrons had a new stop at First Friday last week, Catapult, a Southeast Missouri State University-sponsored incubator, had a soft opening during the First Friday art walk where the public was welcomed to view the facilities and see everything Catapult had to offer, as well as leave a mark on some of their windows.

Catapult is an open space where students and residents can pool their skills to make their ideas a reality. Marketing, hospitality, business, and art are all combined in this incubator which provides a space and resources students need to create their projects. Catapult houses painting facilities, a computer lab, a 3-D Printer, printing press, a photo room, meeting rooms, and even a store where students can sell their products created in Catapult. All these resources, combined with innovative furniture, and a stocked coffee bar will give patrons everything they need to bring their ideas to life.

Not only does Catapult provide the space and the means, but also a network where different mind-sets and majors can work together for large scale projects. Business majors, art students, hospitality majors, graphic designers, anyone can put their talents together for any project.

Catapult will have shortened summer hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a full grand opening scheduled for Fall 2015. Catapult is located at 612 S. Broadway.
