Cape Girardeau, MO – Team entries are now being accepted for the area’s first annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, August 8-9, 2015, at Arena Park, 410 Kiwanis Dr., in Cape Girardeau.

Teams of four can register now by visiting www.macker.com/local/cape-girardeau-mo/. Registration fee is just $35/person or $140 for a team of four. The mail-in deadline to register is July 17; online registration deadline is July 20. All proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Girardeau.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Cape Girardeau is excited about hosting the area’s first Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, an American original, now in its 42nd year. Boys and girls, men and women, of all ages and experience levels can play. It’s all about having fun and of course it’s for a great cause, helping support the Boys & Girls Club’s afterschool programs and summer camp,” said Jeff Jernigan, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Cape Girardeau.

Teams are computer-matched into male and female divisions within one of the following categories: junior, adult, or top. Age, height and experience of all four (4) players are taken into consideration. Teams will receive at least three (3) scheduled games each tournament, and an official referee is assigned to each game. Teams that struggle can win the “Toilet Bowl,” which is just one of the many cool trophies up for grabs.

The Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament has grown immensely since its inception. Gus Macker tournaments are played in over 75 cities, with over 200,000 players, and 1.7 million spectators who come out to enjoy this 3-on-3 competition and great family fun. Other special events, that people like to come out and enjoy, are the Slam Dunk, Free-Throw, and “grudge matches” contests.

This wholesome, family-oriented event is a tournament designed by players for players. Anyone age 10 and under to 40+, male or female, can play in the Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend.
