Shop with a Cop Raises Funds

NEWS

It’s never too early to get ready for Christmas, playing golf is just a bonus. The Crowne Point Golf Club recently hosted the Fourth Annual Shop with a Cop Golf Tournament, a fundraiser to bring proceeds to the Shop with a Cop organization where children go shopping with police officers for Christmas presents. Last year they served almost 500 children in the area, so the golf tournament was a much needed fundraiser to get things ready.

“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year,” explained St. Francois County Sheriff Dan Bullock, “One hundred percent of the proceeds go to Shop With A Cop.”

The funds raised will be used to buy presents for needy families. At the golf tournament golfers as young as 9 participated in the event, and there was even a celebrity present. Tim Van Galder, former St. Louis Cardinals (football) quarterback, showed up to play as well.

Bullock says they will need more help this year to keep up with the need of local families. Other departments, like the fire, conservation, and parks department will also be volunteering to help with the shopping.
