Cape Girardeau Joins Clean Energy Initiative

NEWS

Thanks to the funding of Show Me PACE district, Cape Girardeau will be making large strides towards renovating the city into a place that will be run by clean energy. The Property Assessment Clean Energy Act (PACE) provides funding for businesses to convert their energy sources into clean energy. For example Rhodes 101 on Sprigg St. will be installing solar panels for their roof, and led lighting will replace the outside lighting system. Solar panels, insulation, heating and air conditioning systems, and building repairs are just some of the services that will be improved to make buildings more energy efficient. With PACE $6 million worth of improvements will be made in 2015 alone.

Joshua Campbell, executive director of the Missouri Energy Initiative, says that this sort of change comes from the request of business owners in Cape Girardeau, and acts as incentive to bring new businesses into the area.
