Tunes at Twilight Starts Fall Series

PRESS RELEASE

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – Old Town Cape is gearing up for the fall season of their ever-popular Tunes at Twilight outdoor music series. Six concerts, and six fantastic entertainers and groups are lined up to bring family-friendly, fun entertainment to downtown starting this Friday, August 14.
Tunes at Twilight is a free Friday evening outdoor concert series held at the Common Pleas Courthouse Gazebo, located at the corner of Lorimer and Broadway, in historic Old Town Cape. For six weeks in the spring and six weeks in the fall, families and friends from around the region come to enjoy an evening of entertainment and community.
Spring’s concert series brought out record numbers of attendees. On weeks with dry weather, 650+ individuals convened on the gazebo lawn equipped with their blankets, coolers, kiddos and puppies. Old Town Cape expects nothing less during the fall series. These last six concerts begin at 6:30pm and include the following artists:
Aug 14 – Jack Williams
Aug 21 – Jimmy Davis
Aug 28 – Bottle Rocket Cabaret
Sept 4 – The Babbas
Sept 11 – Chad Elliott
Sept 18 – Rod Picott
This lineup is a mixture of folk, Americana, country, bluegrass and easy-listening genres that offer something for everyone.
‘What better way to wind down at the end of the work week than to sit under a shade tree at Tunes with a bunch of your friends listening to live music,’ commented Danny Essner. Danny and his wife, Debbie, are Tunes at Twilight ‘regulars’. ‘One of the biggest factors in Cape being such a great place to live is our quality of life. Tunes at Twilight is one component of that and really reflects what living in Cape is all about.’
Living in Cape Girardeau truly is a special experience, as represented through our downtown’s recent designation as a Great American Main Street Community. To help celebrate this achievement, Old Town Cape has organized an ice cream social for this Friday’s concert, August 14. Beginning at 6pm, the first 300 attendees will receive free ice cream from Port Cape Girardeau.
‘Being a Great American Main Street Community really is what the title states, a community award,’ mentioned Donna Denson, President of Old Town Cape’s Board of Directors and Advertising Director for the Southeast Missourian. ‘It has taken years of sustainable progress and community backing to get our downtown to this level, and this celebration is a small gesture to say thank you for everyone’s support!’
This is another event brought to the community by Old Town Cape. SoutheastHEALTH is the premier sponsor with additional sponsors including FOX23 KBSI, My 49 WDKA and Cape Air. Grant assistance is provided through the Missouri Arts Council.
In the event of inclement weather, a designated rain location will be announced on Old Town Cape’s website and social media no later than 4:30pm the day of the event. For more information about Tunes at Twilight, visit www.OldTownCape.org/Tunes at Twilight.aspx
