WSIU-TV to Launch New Local Music Concert Series

PRESS RELEASE
Carbondale, Ill. -- WSIU Public Television, a public media service of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and project partner the Carbondale Music Coalition are pleased to present Little Egypt Live, a new local music concert series showcasing the region's best bluegrass, country, blues, and roots musicians.
The series will air Thursdays at 8 p.m., with a repeat each following Saturday at 10 p.m., beginning on October 8 with a rousing performance by Jenny & The Storm Crows. Additional broadcasts include Tawl Paul & Slappin' Henry Blue on October 15, The Bankesters on October 22, and The Swamp Tigers on October 29. All four performances were recorded at the Varsity Center for the Arts in Carbondale earlier this year.
“This area has such a vibrant local music scene, and Little Egypt Live gives us the chance to showcase those talented musicians to a much wider audience,” says Greg Petrowich, Executive Director of WSIU Public Broadcasting. “Only on WSIU Public Television will you find a show that so authentically celebrates the musicians and people of this region.”
WSIU has tentative plans to record an Ivas John holiday special at SIU Carbondale's Shryock Auditorium later this fall as part of the Little Egypt Live series. Additional details will be released as they become available.
