Paint for a Cause Uses Art to Help the Community

NEWS

Paint for a Cause is returning for the third time to the Painted Wren Art Gallery October 2 for First Friday. This unique fundraiser brought in $517 dollars for the Women's Safe House in Cape Girardeau their very first night by letting the community show off their artistic talent. For the past two First Friday's Paint for a Cause has set up a canvas with a simple picture sketched on, and for a dollar anyone is given paint and a brush to add to the work of art in any way they like. 246 people contributed to the first painting. The second had 355 people, raising money for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
This time a brand new sketch is being presented with the money going to the Watkins Wildlife Rehab in Sedgewickville, MO. This third painting will remain up through December 23 in an attempt to break the world record for most contributing artists for a painting.
For only $1 patrons get one minute to add to the art as they wish, and donate to a good cause. For more information visit The Painted Wren, or contact Aaron Horrell at 573-579-1000.
