Southeast Alumni Creating a Feature Film

NEWS

Christopher Shank is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in mass communication, TV and film option. He is using his skills to honor his brother, Jeremy, who was killed in action while serving his country in Iraq in 2006. As a way to cope with the loss Chris began writing a screenplay called ‘The Reservist’ similar to the events happening in his own life - looking at how the loss of soldiers effects those at home. Chris feels this is an aspect of war missing from movies and the media. Nine years later Chris is working on an MFA at National University, and wants to bring that script to the screen. He has started an Indiegogo page with a goal of $20,000. Support has already come in from soldiers in Jeremy’s duty station in Hawaii. Chris said he hopes to start test shooting by the beginning of 2016 and have the film finished by next winter. His goal is to have it played at local film festivals and even distribute it online and on DVD. Chris says the film is a tribute to his brother, and anyone who has lost a loved one.
