Downtown Christmas Open House

PRESS RELEASE

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – Old Town Cape is filled with holiday cheer as they pin down the final details for this year’s Downtown Christmas Open House. The event, an annual tradition for many around the area, is set for Friday, December 4, from 5-9pm. A flurry of activities help make the evening extra special. Here’s what attendees can look forward to.
Carriage rides through the Main St area will be available from 5:30-8:30pm starting at the corner of Spanish St and Broadway. Santa’s Workshop will be located at the new Realty Executives office at 115 Broadway. There, Santa Claus will be available for free pictures with children and kids will have the opportunity to make a fun holiday craft to take home. Stores will be decorated. Caroling by local church choirs, community groups and schools will help augment the festive ambiance. The entire downtown will come alive this Friday evening.
One of the main attractions is the opportunity to win a $1500 downtown shopping spree. To compete, shoppers need to visit a registration booth to sign up and receive a ticket packet starting at 5pm on Friday. This will register their entry number, but does not enter them into the drawing. Registration booths will be located at Hutson’s Fine Furniture (43 S Main St) and at Santa’s Workshop (115 Broadway).
To enter the drawing, shoppers must submit at least one ticket into the gift wrapped box at any participating location. Shoppers can drop off one ticket for one chance to win or drop off all tickets for more chances to win. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and are limited to one entry packet per person.
Tickets can be dropped off at the following locations: Annie Laurie’s Antiques, Annie-Em’s At Home, C.P. McGinty Jewelers, Cup ‘n’ Cork, Grass Roots BMW, Hutson’s Fine Furniture, Jayson Jewelers, Lattitudes Fair Trade Store, Ophelia Boutique, Pastimes Antiques, Sherry Yaeger’s Renaissance, Rust & Martin, Socials Cafe & Coffeehouse, Stash, Sweet Designs Boutique, Threadz, Yearning 4 Yarn and Zickfield’s Jewelry & Gifts. Visit www.OldTownCape.org/Events to download a map of the area highlighting all ticket drop-off locations and attractions.
The shopping spree winner will be announced by Friday, December 11th.
All Christmas activities and the downtown Christmas decorations are sponsored through Old Town Cape by: Broadway Prescription Shop, Drury Southwest, Rhodes 101 Convenience Stores, Robinson Construction and The Southeast Missourian. Special thanks to Realty Executives for sponsoring Santa’s Workshop, Emmy Lou Photography for taking the photos with Santa, Cape Girardeau Noon Optimist Club for sponsoring photos with Santa, and Southeast Athletics for carrying out the free kids activity.
