Advertising Club to present “Communicating in an Emergency: Tales & Tips from the Flood”

PRESS RELEASE

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – A panel of representatives from the local, state and federal levels will be presenting at the Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals meeting on Tuesday, January 26 at 11:30 a.m. at Dexter BBQ in Cape Girardeau.

The representatives will speak about how they managed emergency communications during recent, historic flooding. In addition, they will share their strategies on sharing information, best practices and lessons learned.

The panel will include Nicolette Brennan, City of Cape Girardeau Public Information Officer; Mark Little, KFVS12 News Director; Nicole Thieret, MoDOT Southeast Missouri Communications Manager; and Romanda Walker and Amanda Kruse, Army Corps of Engineers Public Affairs Specialists.

Sales and customer service are at the core of Brennan’s communication philosophy and she brings that background to her role. Armed also with a B.S. in Mass Media from Southeast Missouri State University, an A.S. in Information Technology from Jefferson College, and a short career in social service, Brennan enjoys working with diverse teams to deliver the right information, to the right people, at the right time.

Little began his career with KFVS12 in 1999 as Assignment Manager. Prior to that, he worked in the news business in St. Louis where he most recently served as Assignment Manager at KPLR- TV. Little is a lifelong Missouri resident, and proud to call the Heartland home. The Flood of ’93 was not only Mark’s first big news story but also one of his most memorable.

Thieret oversees the gathering, writing, editing of daily and weekly updates on maintenance, construction projects, and emergency alerts, including involvement in gathering and providing road condition information during snowstorms and floods to news media, the public and employees. Thieret coordinates communication, media relations and customer outreach for the Southeast region. She also manages Customer Service and the Southeast District Emergency Operations Center.
