Grand Opening at the Jackson Civic Center

Last Sunday Jackson opened their brand new Civic Center. The grand opening allowed guests to tour the freshly-constructed building which features conference rooms, a large presentation area complete with projection screens, and a gymnasium which holds a basketball and volleyball court, and a track for running. Aside from recreation and business the building also acts as a safe house against tornadoes and earthquakes.

Several officials were in attendance, including the Jackson and Cape Girardeau Mayors, Missouri representatives, and several city judges. The St. Paul Lutheran School fourth and fifth grade choir performed a medley of patriotic songs, and several speeches were given, praising the completion of the Civic Center. Steve Elefson of the Southeast Missouri Medical Center - who helped sponsor the project, said it, "Ranks at the top of our accomplishments."
