United Way 'Gives from the Heart'

PRESS RELEASE

With the 2015 campaign almost over, United Way of Southeast Missouri is asking citizens to “Give from the Heart” through the month of February as an additional push to raise funds for the annual campaign. Area businesses and organizations are selling hearts for $1, hosting heart-themed bake sales and cookoffs, inviting people to guess the amount of Valentine-themed candy in a jar, and many more clever ideas provided by United Way, posted on their website. Elizabeth Shelton, Executive Director of United Way of Southeast Missouri, explains: “We are so appreciative of the individuals and workplaces that have already donated. This is just a way to have some fun with a serious subject , while raising more dollars to sustain the programs that are making a difference in our community. It allows any individual, business or organization to participate, whether or not they participate in our regular campaign, while keeping our current donors involved.” Businesses and organizations are invited to “Give from the Heart” in addition to or in lieu of participating in the 2015 United Way campaign. Materials and ideas to participate can be obtained at www.unitedwayofsemo.org/heart and by calling Nicholle Hinkle, Director of Donor Relations, at 573- 334-9634. United Way also encourages individuals to give by visiting www.unitedwayofsemo.org/donate to complete a pledge form or by texting “meettheneed” to 41444. United Way of Southeast Missouri is able to connect community members with resources thanks to the support of donors and volunteers combined with corporate gifts and sponsorships. The major sponsors for the 2015 campaign are SoutheastHEALTH and Montgomery Bank with additional support from The Bank of Missouri and Drury Southwest.
