Scholarships Available for Language Immersion Summer Camp

PRESS RELEASE

Cultural Exchange Network (CENET) is partnering with Concordia Language Villages to provide summer camp scholarships for deserving youth in the Southeast Missouri area. Scholarship recipients (ages 8-18) will be transported to Bemidji, Minnesota to spend 2-4 weeks in a language immersion program.

Several factors, including the language a student chooses to study, will determine the scholarship amount. Full scholarships may be available for students interested in studying Arabic. With over 300 million Arabic speakers worldwide, this opportunity will enhance a local student’s future opportunities in terms of university admittance, military service, and employment in the public and private sectors. Scholarship money may also be available for students looking to study Portuguese or Finnish.

Since 1961, Concordia Language Villages have been preparing young people for responsible global citizenship through their world-language and cultural education programs. The villages have been featured in the New York Times and Washington Post, and received visits from prominent world leaders, including ambassadors, consuls, United Nations officials, and U.S. elected officials.

Cultural Exchange Network is a non-profit organization located on the Southeast Missouri State University campus in Cape Girardeau. Along with other cultural exchange initiatives, CENET also implements Culture in the Community, a program dedicated to providing authentic international education in area schools.
