2016 Fireworks on the River

NEWS

Cape Girardeau is proud to host the second ‘Great American Fourth of July Fireworks on the River.’ This year’s Independence Day celebration starts at 6:45 p.m. at the Common Pleas Courthouse on Spanish Street where patrons can enjoy a live performance by the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band. Guest speaker this year is U.S. Senator Roy Blunt. A Naturalization Ceremony will be held by U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. Before the fireworks The Southeast Missourian will present the Spirit of America Award during the event. This award recognizes an outstanding citizen in the area who helps others and gives back to the community.

The firework display will be held on the riverfront after dusk. This year the Isle Casino will provide a shuttle service for parking. Patrons are encouraged to park at the Show Me Center and take the free shuttle service to downtown. Handicap parking will be available in downtown Cape on a first-come, first-serve basis. No personal fireworks are allowed.
