Art Council Opens in New Location

PRESS RELEASE

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is excited to announce that their organization has moved into a new, permanent location at 16 N. Spanish Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau. A soft opening was held on July 1, 2016 with a Grand Opening scheduled for Friday, September 2, 2016.

The move follows a 6-month renovation of the 6,000 square foot facility that formerly housed the Stev-Mark Gallery. Details such as the original concrete floors and a sliding freight door were retained by the Arts Council and bring warmth and vibrancy to the space.

In addition to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri’s gallery and workshop spaces, the Visual Arts Cooperative has a gallery at the new location displaying artwork from their members. On Cue Performing Arts Studio is also partnering with the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri at the new building through a long-term lease agreement to provide further access to the performing arts in Southeast Missouri.

Information about the Arts Council’s workshop and classroom spaces is still to come, but should be available by Fall 2016. A class and fee schedule will be accessible via the Arts Council’s website: www.capearts.org.

All phone numbers and email addresses remain the same.

Join the community in celebrating the new home of the Arts Council and Visual Arts Cooperative. The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is located at 16 N. Spanish Street in Cape Girardeau, MO. Galleries are open Tuesday- Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
