ST. LOUIS (March 20, 2017) – Following a nationwide search, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri Board of Directors has selected Charles “Mike” Duggar as the agency’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. He will begin his leadership of LFCS on March 27, 2017.
Duggar is an accomplished social service executive with 24 years of progressive experience in foster care, residential treatment and community-based services. He comes from Jackson, MS where he served as President and CEO of Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi. During his tenure, he lead the organization to become certified as an X01/X04 community mental health provider, secured over $6 million in financial support for the organization, and was appointed to the Supreme Court Juvenile Justice Commission.
“With his vision, commitment to organizational improvement, and dedication to service, Mr. Duggar will be a valuable voice for this organization,” said Laura Hollingsworth, Chair of the Search Committee. “Through his leadership, we are confident that LFCS will continue to advance in our mission to help families, children and individuals experience greater hope and wholeness of life.”
Mr. Duggar was also a member of Jackson State University’s adjunct faculty as an instructor for Leadership & Management as well as Community & Organizational Change in the Jackson State School of Social Work. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Masters of Community Psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Duggar is eager to relocate to the St. Louis area and to lead Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri. “LFCS has an enduring legacy of bringing hope and healing across generations of Missourians and I am so grateful for the opportunity to help build on that tradition of excellence,” he said. Under Duggar’s direction, the organization will be celebrating its 150th year in 2018.
Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri (LFCS), a proud member of the United Way, is a statewide agency with headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, five regional offices and numerous satellite counseling sites. LFCS serves families, children and individuals from all walks of life in their greatest times of need. Services are open to anyone regardless of race, faith, national origin, gender, or age. As a nonprofit social services organization, its goal is to open doors for people who are challenged by poverty, unexpected pregnancy, violence, divorce, unemployment, illness, homelessness and more. LFCS provides four key areas of support to tackle these challenges – Child Welfare, Mental Health Services, Child and Teen Development, and Disaster Services. The programs offered through each of these areas empower individuals and families and seek to develop healthy, supportive foundations for a lifetime. The staff delivers professionalism and personal care in equal measure to every situation and each client who visits one of the five offices around the state of Missouri. Everything LFCS does integrates with the community to enrich and heal the lives of people with the expectation that troubled individuals find hope and realize that tomorrow can be different than today.
