Incubator to Open for Southeast Students

NEWS

Southeast Missouri State University is picking the brain of Dr. James Stapleton, co-owner of Codefi, to create a similar student-based concept in entrepreneurship. They are creating a location in which students can workshop and develop their ideas into products and services. The Creative Labs and Industries Incubator is an expansion of the university's entrepreneurship education program. A building on 600 block of Broadway is being renovated to house the Incubator, and expected to open in Fall 2015.

The Incubator will give students a chance at real-world participation in marketing, creating, and selling products, ideas and services. They can put their skills together from their respective majors to bring an innovation to life. The first floor of the incubator is planned to include retail space as well as a letterpress printing operation. The second floor will contain design and production studios, and both floors will have classroom space.

While it is student-focused, the university welcomes public use as well to allow entrepreneurs a chance to interact with students.
