Success for Sounds of the Season

NEWS

Sounds of the Season is an annual Christmas concert held to benefit SoutheastHEALTH. This year was their 19th concert, and “best one ever,” as declared by Southeast Ambassador Bob Matthews. 800 tickets were sold, completely filling the Cape Bible Chapel where the concert was held. The performance featured a mixture of celebrity and local talent, including emcees Jim Burns and Crystal Britt, anchors from the KFVS12 Breakfast show. Musical talent from Andrew Moore, a doctor for the Southeast Cancer Center earned a standing ovation for his rendition of ‘Battle Hymn for the Republic’. Brothers Walker stirred the crowed with some country-style tunes, while the Jackson High School Hand Bell Choir filled the prelude. The rest of the show featured dance and instrument talents from the Academy of Dance Arts (of Sikeston), soprano Patti McPheeters, pianist Shane Steck, vocalist Lauren Powers, and the Jerry Ford Orchestra. Santa Clause himself topped off the night by greeting the crowd as they exited through the lobby, giving the kids a surprise visit.

The proceeds go to helping cancer patients at the Southeast Cancer Center.

Wish you had been there? Not to worry, KFVS is airing the performance on television December 24, at 10:35 p.m. and December 25, at 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. WQWQ will also be airing on December 21, at 9:00 p.m., and December 25, at 7:00 a.m.
