High School Gets New Theater and Football Stadium

NEWS

Despite budget cuts and some financial strain, Mt. Vernon Township High School is using what money it has to further improve the school. A brand new theater and football field have been approved, and are expected to be completed in 2016. After rebidding for the two buildings, the projects actually became cheaper at $700,000, allowing the school to free up the money. A ground breaking earlier this fall kicked the project in gear, and construction has already begun. Bids for jobs helped keep cost low, making it affordable for the high school to move forward with the project. Cost cuts and budget organization has allowed school officials to opt for both the theater and football stadium. These new facilities are expected to help, not only the students, but the entire community, opening up more opportunities in sports and art.
