Chocolate Festival

Over in Mt. Vernon the Jefferson County Historical Society hosted a Chocolate Festival this year, December 11, to raise money for the upkeep of their museum and historical buildings. The festival is a cooking contest for all things chocolate, and the public is invited to come in and sample the entries. Fudge, cookies, and other unique recipes, including a fun brownie/candy concoction, were entered in the hope of winning the $250 grand prize. The recipes come from, magazines, or were simply passed down through the family tree. Besides sampling, patrons were welcomed to purchase the chocolaty treats, or participate in the silent auction. To see who won, keep an eye on their Facebook page.
