From Trash to Treasure

Keeping your town clean in the name of the holiday spirit is the new approach one little Illinois town is taking this year. In Galatia they are taking advantage of the importance of recycling and using the money to give back this holiday season. Though the town is small the need is big, so this year during the annual town clean-up, all scrap metal and recyclables were taken in to raise money for the Christmas donations. Working together they raised $2000 just on recyclables. The village clerk, Sharon Talandis, had quite the shopping trip, taking lists from those that asked for assistance this year and buying up toys for 30 extra children. Volunteers even wrapped the presents themselves before delivering to the needy families.
