The Conservatory of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will hold its annual “Senior Showcase,” a cabaret for graduating seniors, at 7:30 p.m. May 5-6 in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre at the River Campus.

A reception will immediately follow both performances in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center.


‘Tall Tales and Short Shorts’: Southeast Professor Explores NBA History in New Book


Dr. Adam Criblez,assistant professor of history and director of the Center for Regional History at Southeast Missouri State University, is set to release his book “Tall Tales and Short Shorts: Dr. J, Pistol Pete, and the Birth of the Modern NBA” May 16.

Russian National Ballet Performing ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Carmen’ at River Campus

The Russian National Ballet Theatre returns to the River Campus as part of the 2016-2017 Bank of Missouri Touring Series at Southeast Missouri State University at 7:30 p.m. April 21.

The evening will feature a two performances,  “Romeo and Juliet” and “Alberto Alonso’s Carmen.”

Enjoy signature items from 13 Cape Girardeau restaurants and businesses participating in the annual restaurant hop on Tuesday, April 18, benefitting Southeast Missouri State University’s Conservatory of Theatre and Dance.

The restaurant hop, which takes place from 5 to 8 p.m., includes the following restaurants: Andy’s Frozen Custard, Bistro Saffron, Chocolate Works, Cup ‘n Cork, Faithfully Fed, Jimmy John’s, Marco’s Pizza, Mississippi Mutts, My Daddy’s Cheesecake, Pho8, Primo Vino!, Stevie’s Steakburger and The Bar.




Visiting Professor Presenting Lecture, Community Card Printing Workshop at Catapult


Susanna Crum, a visiting assistant professor at Indiana University Southeast and co-founder of Calliope Arts in Louisville, Kentucky, will present a lecture on her art and work, a free community card printing workshop and a pop-up exhibition of her artwork April 6-7.

Crum ( uses print media, photography and video as tools to investigate and interpret the layers of history stored within public spaces, which stand at the intersection of past,present and future.


Southeast Art Faculty Exhibition Opening April 7 at Catapult


Catapult Creative House will host a reception from 5-9 p.m. Friday, April 7, marking the opening of an exhibit featuring works by the art faculty of Southeast Missouri State University.

The Southeast Art Faculty Exhibition will remain on display through April 27 at Catapult Creative House at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Among those exhibiting their work will be Louise Bodenheimer, Emily Booth, Emily Denlinger, Dr. Joni Hand, Benjie Hue, Carol Horst, Caroline Kahler, Justin Henry Miller, Joshua Newth, Hannah March Sanders, Kathy Smith and Chris Wubbena.


April First Friday Features Southeast Student’s Ceramics at Catapult Creative House


The Catapult Creative House Student Studios will hold their spring Artist of the Month exhibition titled “Inlay” by Southeast Missouri State University student Scott Stuhldreher opening on April 7, the First Friday in April.


Annual Juried Student Exhibition


“The Annual Juried Student Exhibition” will be displayed in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus April 7-23.

An opening reception for the exhibiting students is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. April 7 and is open to the public. The awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center.


Southeast’s ‘Talking Booth’ Video Advances to National AAF Competition in New Orleans

University Communications and Marketing at Southeast Missouri State University has been awarded a District Gold ADDY and a Judges’ Citation presented by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) for “The Talking Booth” video, which now advances to the final round AAF competition in New Orleans June 10.
