Carbondale, Illinois will soon be filled with the sound of music. 20 bands over the next three days will perform throughout the city. This will be one rock ‘n roll weekend.
The lineup for this year’s festival is over 20 local bands with familiar names like The Swamp Tigers, Hobo Knife 2.0, The Jewels, Cashmere Cobra, The Heat Tape, and so many more. They will be performing in venues in the heart of Downtown Carbondale.
The Carbondale Music Coalition is behind this elaborate festival. They seek to strengthen Carbondale’s music industry, and the Rock Revival is just one way they bring the community together to support and enjoy local musicians. They also bring in several national musicians including Unknown Hinson, Those Poor Bastards, and Chuck Mead. Carbondale Music Coalition President Curtis Conley says this is a great way to reconnect musicians, meet with booking agents, and gain credibility as a music venue.
Each year they attempt to make the concert bigger and better. This year the addition of more national bands is a step in that direction. Next year Conley hopes to set up separate stages in the downtown area for national acts.
For a good time and a rocking party show your support of Carbondale music at the 5th annual Rock Revival. It takes place September 10 - 12. Visit their Facebook page for links and information on tickets.
